Overview

We are actively recruiting a Senior Software Test Engineer to help us on our mission of striving to make investing easier for all. You will carry out testing across a wide range of processes and systems including UI, API, back office (workflow) processes, 3rd party systems and integrations, and end-to-end testing. You will deliver tested, resilient and performant code in a fast-paced environment and help shape our customer applications. You will work with other software testers to assist the Team Lead in balancing workload and delegating tasks when required. You will be working on a product that aims to help people invest and secure their financial future, in a small agile team focused on delivering value to the business rather than heavy processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching and developing testers, reviewing their work (peer review), delegating tasks and setting objectives
  • Carry out testing across a wide range of processes and systems including UI, API, back office (workflow) processes, 3rd party systems and end-to-end testing
  • Understand and interpret business, functional and technical requirements
  • Understand AJ Bell products and processes, and relevant Financial Services legislation
  • Contribute to how solutions are developed and delivered to achieve the best customer outcomes
  • Execute test scripts and record results using software testing tools (JIRA/XRAY)
  • Raise bugs in a timely manner with sufficient detail to enable fixing and reproduction
  • Work with Technical Leads and other Testers from project inception to implement appropriate test automation alongside manual testing
  • Be involved in new research projects and proof-of-concepts
  • Support User Acceptance Testing and release to Production
  • Apply knowledge of Agile practices in test activities

About You

  • Experience of working as a Senior Tester, delegating work within a team and acting as a first point of contact for support
  • Full understanding of the testing lifecycle and methodologies
  • Design automated test scripts using the BDD methodology
  • Maintain and enhance automation frameworks
  • Carry out exploratory testing within an Agile environment
  • Develop test tools and extend test frameworks and environments
  • Proven experience testing APIs using integration tools
  • Knowledge of Cypress, Gherkin, Page Object Model, PactumJS, TypeScript
  • Technical understanding of tested processes and related processes and the ability to test components
  • Understanding of test automation concepts and their application
  • Experience in CI/CD using tools such as Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline
  • Automation-first approach to test execution where possible
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Hybrid working
