We're seeking an experienced Senior Planner to join our team and play a key role in leading complex planning projects, supporting team development, and contributing to wider business growth. Acting as a brand ambassador, you'll help strengthen client relationships, secure new opportunities, and drive company success through high-quality planning work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on complex planning applications and appeals
- Independently manage project submissions and client communications
- Attend and present at appeal hearings and examinations in public
- Undertake Section 106 negotiations
- Contribute to business development and networking efforts
- Manage project budgets and fee proposals
- Support the preparation of new business pitches and client presentations
- Mentor and develop junior team members
- Promote the practice through marketing and client engagement activities
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional planning experience (public or private sector)
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general IT systems
- High-quality report writing and data analysis skills
- Confident in negotiations and representing clients
- Strong time management and multitasking ability
- Highly organised, methodical, and able to meet tight deadlines
- Positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- Professional, friendly, and approachable manner
- Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Understanding of urban design and masterplanning
- Existing client relationships or ability to generate new business is an advantage
