The Vacancy

Richard Allitt Associates Ltd (RAA), part of RSK Group, was established in 1996 to deliver innovative solutions for the urban drainage industry. As Consulting Engineers, we maintain a traditional family-based approach to business, putting client needs first and resolving flooding problems in the urban environment using hydraulic modelling and analytical techniques. We are hiring for Senior & Principal Wastewater Modellers to join the team on a hybrid basis from our Glasgow office.

The main focus of the role is to support our clients on AMP8 and beyond, including programmes of work such as SOAF, WINEP, and DWMP, along with catchment studies as required. The Senior role involves developing and managing a team of Hydraulic Modellers and other technical staff to provide an exemplary service to established and new clients. At Principal level, the role focuses on developing engineering solutions to flooding issues and working with modelling teams to optimise these solutions as part of WINEP, SOAF and DWMP studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic modelling using InfoWorks ICM and InfoAsset Manager
  • Junior management of a small team of modellers and technicians
  • Take an active role in urban drainage activities nationally and develop innovative ideas
  • Work on Integrated Catchment Models and develop a team of Hydraulic Modellers and other technical staff
  • Lead a small team of Modellers on Integrated Urban Drainage projects
  • Assist with the financial and technical management of projects
  • Liaise with clients, statutory authorities and stakeholders
  • Assist with development of new techniques and skills
  • Prepare reports and check work done by others

Principal Wastewater Modeller

  • Work with a small team of Modellers to develop Integrated Urban Drainage solutions
  • Responsible for financial and technical management of projects
  • Mentor and upskill modelling staff in the optioneering process
  • Take a lead role in identifying urban drainage solutions

Person Specification

  • Ideally 5-8 years proven UK experience of using InfoWorks ICM
  • Highly proficient computer and technical skills
  • Chartered member or approaching Chartered status (Principal)
  • Ability to effectively manage workload
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure and to lead a team
  • Good relationship builder with clients in both the public and private sectors
