Senior/Staff Applied Scientist — Photoroom

Photoroom, founded in 2020 and accepted into Y Combinator, is the world's most popular AI photo editor with over 300 million downloads and processing over 5 billion images annually. We serve creators and enterprises such as Amazon, DoorDash, and Decathlon through a B2C app and a B2B API.

About the Role

• Work on several ML solutions from requirements to product – owning the end‑to‑end pipeline.
• Build, train, and release diffusion models, including training from scratch and advanced fine‑tuning.
• Define data acquisition, labeling, and overall strategy for product impact.
• Collaborate with a small, multicultural ML team (≈75 people).
• Deliver new features and 0‑to‑1 solutions with rapid user feedback loops.

About You

• 3+ years’ experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow or JAX (preferred PyTorch).
• Deep experience with diffusion models for image creation or editing; trained models from scratch or performed extensive fine‑tuning.
• Pragmatic mindset, prioritizing fast iteration over perfection.
• Experience building complex architectures for product‑ready ML systems.
• Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and product‑technical decision making.
• Team‑player in a fast‑growing startup environment.
• Fluent in English; French not required.
