LocalStack has a large open-source community and a global customer base. LocalStack is headquartered in Zurich/Switzerland, with a main engineering office in Vienna/Austria and remote team members in the US, FR, UK, CA, ES, and more. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 5+ years in a senior engineering role, strong experience in API design and development, and a solid background in system architecture, to drive data-backed quality and emulation strategies that improve the correctness, reliability, and go-to-market success of LocalStack's emulation platform and ecosystem tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively work with the Technical Go to Market team, helping resolve technical issues, and formulating data-driven strategies for Engineering
  • Contribute to the evolution of LocalStack's overall architecture, frameworks, data-driven development, and contribute to the Open Source ecosystem with a focus on impact in closing fidelity gaps
  • Mentor engineers in reproducible testing, observability, failure analysis, and data‑driven prioritization; embed quality ownership into day‑to‑day workflows
  • Collaborate with Core Engineering squads and service owners to prioritize and amplify their impact. Champion automation and explore innovative technologies to improve the quality of the emulator

Experience we expect you to bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, preferably in Python
  • Experience leading or owning significant parts of a complex code-base, preferably in a Python open-source project
  • Deep experience with testing and refactoring at scale by the use of automation and observability
  • Experience working directly with customers, resolving technical issues, and gathering requirements
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud development, both on application level and on platform level
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform or Pulumi
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
  • Mentorship and coaching experience to support team growth
  • Experience in collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, DevRel, and Go-to-Market teams
