About The Role

As a Service Engineer you will work at my clients' service centre and on customers sites across the UK (with an average of 4 nights away per month).

Responsibilities

  • Operating in a 10-20% presales and 80-90% post-sales support role.
  • Being involved in key technical discussions alongside the Product Specialist on more advanced and complex projects (approximately 6-7 projects per year where your input may be required).
  • CAD Design – training given.
  • Working on floor standing lab and occasionally pilot scale chemical reactor systems.
  • Troubleshooting issues with returned instruments including rupture discs, valves, vessel, electric heater or temperature and stirrer controllers.
  • Operating in a 65-70% mechanical and 30-35% electrical engineering role.
  • Visiting customers to complete new equipment installations and commissioning (approximately 20 new installations per year).
  • Visiting a variety of Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Academia clients.
  • Liaising with customers directly to schedule your own service visits.
  • Conducting routine service and calibration work, alongside more reactive maintenance, including fault finding and problem resolution.
  • Working on equipment ranging from £50K to £300K in value.
  • Completing service visit reports.
  • Prebuild and assembly of systems in advance of the customer installation date.
  • Learning and developing your skills on new instruments as you evolve within the company.

About You

The successful candidate must be multiskilled (electromechanical) with a mechanical bias and possess hands-on experience as a service engineer / technician on high pressure systems, reactors or affiliated chemical equipment.

It's essential you have a logical and methodical approach to fault-finding, enjoy a diverse role and possess engineering qualifications such as a time served apprenticeship, City & Guilds, HNC, HND or Degree.

Any experience using CAD design software would be highly advantageous but not essential, as is a knowledge or education in Chemical Engineering.

A UK driving license is needed, as is the rights to work in the UK. My client doesn’t offer sponsorship.
