Job purpose

  • The key purpose of this role is to provide support and expertise on the design, development and enhancement and performing day to day production support activities of ServiceNow, to assist the business increasing operational efficiency and reduce operational risks.
  • To be an escalation point for all users, to fix application and system problems, or any incident that is disrupting the application service that business users depend on.
  • This role will proactively identify and deliver platform enhancements to maximise value, working with colleagues across IT Team and beyond to enable the Arbuthnot business to meet their strategic and business objectives.
  • Where applicable - to place the interests of customers at the centre of all activities, act in a way that is consistent with achieving good outcomes for consumers; and to comply with the FCA and PRA's Conduct Rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use technology appropriately and flexibly, taking into consideration the company’s strategy and security requirements.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards and best practices, including, but not limited to, documentation, testing and peer review.
  • Ensure maintenance of the development infrastructure required by the above tools. Maintenance the source code repository, continuous build and deployment facilities.
  • Provide technical advice to the business users by identifying the most appropriate tools/processes for any given task.
  • Ensures quality and consistency throughout the architecture and implementation of the code base.
  • Set-up, configuration and day-to-day administration of the ServiceNow platform including conducting changes to the platform e.g., overseeing integration with new systems, creating new workflow or amending existing workflow/configs to meet our needs.
  • Proactive identification and execution of platform enhancements to maximise value, inputting into roadmaps and continual improvement plans for the platform Advanced automation including workflow and system integration.
  • Technical governance to ensure a seamless user experience that aligns with the platform design strategy. Responsible for technical documentation, compliance with all agreed Arbuthnot policies and that key controls are kept up to date.
  • Builds excellent collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders, external suppliers and partners in addition to representing technology through positive contribution at forums and industry groups relevant to networks.
  • Maintains the Discovery schedules and ensures these are operational at all times, resolving any issues that occur.
  • General maintenance of ITOM and ITAM processes in the tool.
  • Maintaining and creating new integrations as and when required to systems such as Qualys, Intune, solarwinds etc.
  • Maintaining Purchase order data such as project codes and approver lists.
  • Rolling out functionality to new internal teams (such as onboarding PMO to utilise Purchase ordering).
  • Identify and deploy new modules as required (such as HR modules).

Knowledge/Experience/Skills

  • Extensive experience in configuring the ServiceNow platform.
  • Extensive experience in a busy IT department.
  • Financial Services background desirable
  • Knowledge of ITIL & Service Management framework / Practices
  • Broad knowledge of technologies across the IT landscape
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, adapting to changing business demands, whilst also being able to set expectations with internal customers.
  • Diagnosis and resolution of data related errors.
  • Full Software lifecycle knowledge: Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Deployment and DevOps pipeline experience
  • Thorough understanding of Operating Systems
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly computer literate; with strong Business Analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with colleagues, providers and senior management.

  • ITIL Foundation
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer
  • ServiceNow Certified IT Operations Management Discovery Implementer
  • Certified Implementation Specialist - Software Asset Management
  • ServiceNow Delivery Accreditation - Legal Service Delivery
