About Us

Hoare Lea is a human-centric and planet-conscious engineering consultancy. We offer intelligent and sustainable solutions to complex design challenges for the built environment throughout the UK and further afield.

About the Role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a SharePoint Online administrator to join a small team designing, building, and maintaining smart, user-friendly SharePoint solutions that streamline collaboration and improve productivity. You\'ll work closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs and translate them into scalable solutions using SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365), Power Platform, and the latest web technology. Although the team you’ll be working with mainly works remotely, your main base is the Hoare Lea Bristol office, so travel to this location may be required at times. Whilst primarily working with the Hoare Lea Operating Unit, the role is part of the Tetra Tech corporate IT team. Tetra Tech is a consulting and engineering services firm based in Pasadena, California, that provides consulting, engineering, programme management, and construction management services in the areas of water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development.

In this key and varied role, you can expect to:

  • Design and develop SharePoint Online sites, using and configuring standard and in-house developed web parts, and produce business solutions using PnP approaches, PowerShell, and modern site templates.
  • Leverage Power Platform to automate business processes and design interactive user interfaces and dashboards.
  • Integrate SharePoint with Microsoft 365 services like Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook for a cohesive user experience.
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot existing SharePoint solutions, ensuring performance and compliance.
  • Implement proper governance, security, and permissions structures across all SharePoint sites.
  • Provide user training, technical documentation, and support to ensure adoption and usability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and project managers to deliver user-centred solutions.

About You

You’ll need to be passionate and driven, have a flexible approach to work, and be a strong team player. Good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with a good eye for detail and the ability to solve problems.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience developing and administering business solutions with SharePoint Online.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, especially Power Platform tools.
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, and familiarity with REST APIs as applicable to modern business solutions development.
  • Familiarity with PnP PowerShell and general PowerShell modules.
  • Good understanding of SharePoint governance, security, and best practices.
  • Awareness of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of Azure services such as Functions, Logic Apps, and Azure AD.
  • Experience using source code repositories e.g. Git in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience migrating from legacy SharePoint on-premise environments to SharePoint Online, or between SharePoint Online tenants.
  • Awareness of Agile methodology.
