About the Role?
This role provides expert operational advisory services on Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) legislation, policies, and procedures, supporting the implementation of health and safety strategies across NCSL. It involves ensuring regulatory compliance with CDM, asbestos control, and building safety regulations, while promoting a proactive safety culture through inspections, incident investigations, and employee engagement. The position contributes to strategic SHEQ objectives, including the development and delivery of health and safety training aligned with ISO 45001 standards, and supports senior management with risk assessments, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard employee welfare and operational integrity.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience as a SHEQ Advisor across multi-site operations, with a strong background in planning, implementing, and monitoring service provision. They are skilled in delivering impactful training and presentations to diverse audiences, including senior management, and possess deep knowledge of CDM, asbestos control, and building safety compliance. With auditing expertise in ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems, they demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities. The role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the capacity to influence and build trust, and the ability to investigate incidents impartially and liaise with regulatory bodies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adaptability in fast-paced environments are essential, along with a collaborative mindset and confidence in representing the SHEQ Manager when required.

This role is for 37 hours per week, but to ensure flexibility and promote an inclusive workplace part time hours or a job share agreement will be considered.

Requirements

Health and Safety NEBOSH Certificate, or similar qualification/level of experience

Evidence of continuing professional development and/or membership of professional body, i.e. IOSH or IIRSM

Significant experience as a SHEQ Advisor ideally within multi operational sites.

Full UK Driving Licence with no more than 6 points to meet the travel requirements of the role
