Location: Birmingham (Nationwide / Travel Required)

Rate: £270-300 per day (DOE)

Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing

The Role

We are seeking an experienced freelance Site Manager with a mechanical background to oversee retail construction and fit-out projects across the UK. You will manage the mechanical elements on site, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all on-site activities, with a focus on mechanical services installation (HVAC, pipework, plant, etc.).
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is completed to programme and quality expectations.
• Drive site health & safety standards (inductions, toolbox talks, compliance checks).
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and design teams to resolve technical and programme issues.
• Report on progress, risks, and site activities to the project team.

Requirements

• Proven track record as a Site Manager on retail or fast-track construction projects.
• Strong mechanical services background (M&E coordination, HVAC, or mechanical fit-out).
• SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid certifications.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to work nationwide on retail sites.
