Social Worker Learning Disabilities 25+ position in Newham. Hybrid role – Newham Dockside E16 2QU. Salary: £41,133 - £49,056 plus £3,000 market supplement. Closing date: 28 September 2025.

Reporting to the Learning Disabilities Team Manager. The post supports adults with learning disabilities over the age of 25 and focuses on relationship-based work, building independence through a strengths-based model and a positive approach to risk.

About the Job

We seek a highly motivated, experienced Social Worker who has completed ASYE and can manage a varied caseload within a learning disabilities team. The role requires close partnership working with professionals and the Court of Protection. You will work in a team that supports one another and emphasizes relationship-based practice and positive risk management. The team collaborates with multidisciplinary partners and aims to deliver high-quality services and safe practice for residents.

Responsibilities include delivering an ASC/social work intervention portfolio for adults with learning disabilities, carrying out assessments, reviews, safeguarding, and case management, and applying Care Act principles alongside Strengths Based Practice, Mental Capacity, and safeguarding frameworks.

About You

We are looking for candidates with strong assessment skills and experience delivering high-quality interventions for residents, families, and carers. You will work in a busy frontline Adult Social Care environment and will need:

  • Sound understanding of Care Act interventions and significant knowledge of Strengths Based Practice, Mental Capacity, Court of Protection, Safeguarding Adults, risk, and current practice research.
  • Experience building relationships with partners in the voluntary, community, faith sectors, and health.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration, at least 2 years post-qualifying experience, ongoing professional development, and capability to practice to current professional standards.
