Leaving a client with improved ways of working, working technology and a good experience from discovery through to live is the priority.The role is varied, technical, never confined to any one provider or solution and there are always opportunities for learning and development.UK Security Clearance (existing SC clearance or eligibility)is a requirement for our current permanent opportunities.Experience in delivering digital services for the UK government is highly valuable for many of our projects. Therefore, familiarity with theGDS toolkitwill be essential.Technical SkillsExpertise in Java is preferredExperience in other languages such as Scala, Kotlin or Ruby is also valuableUnderstanding of Object Oriented ProgrammingIn depth knowledge of concepts and uses of testingKnowledge or experience of delivering complex services to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards is requiredBeing comfortable with new technology, t-shaped and comfortable with ongoing learning and development is key to successExperience with agile methodologyA consultant in software development at Opencast is responsible for:Delivering in the upkeep of their team’s backlogCollaborating with the teams testing effortLeading on the implementation of user storiesEmbracing mobbing and pairingWorking with others in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environmentContributing to Opencast’s communities of practiceSalary£45,000 - £59,000What our offer includesCompetitive pension, healthcare, share options and discretionary bonus.Flexible hours and 25 days' holiday.People to support you every step of the way.Where you’ll workOur hybrid model means everyone at Opencast splits their time between multiple locations, including from our HQ and hub locations, client site or home.
