Role Overview

The role of Tech Lead / Engineering Manager involves leadership and delivery responsibilities within a team of developers, ensuring smooth achievement of business goals. You will participate in the development and maintenance of a complex SaaS product with a sizable system and multiple external integrations (REST APIs). You will gain experience with a scaling product used globally by millions of users. We practice SOLID principles and deliver automated, well-tested, simple solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Instil best practices within a delivery team
  • Guide the team in decisions aligned with the company\'s strategic objectives
  • Act as an escalation point for other developers
  • Lead or contribute to discovery work for new technology or features
  • Plan resources, workloads, priorities and outcomes
  • Encourage out-of-the-box thinking
  • Take on more complex development tasks
  • Mentor other developers and lead by example

Qualifications

  • PHP 7+ using a clean code approach
  • Symfony (or similar MVC framework)
  • JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Single Page Applications (React for future development; Vue.js and Angular.js are beneficial for legacy systems)
  • MySQL (Redis, MongoDB and DynamoDB beneficial)
  • Git
  • Jira and Confluence
  • Experience managing an Agile/Scrum team
  • Confident in running and participating in Agile ceremonies
  • Ability to perform high-level and detailed design analysis and create relevant documentation
  • Desire to instil development best practices in the Software Delivery Lifecycle
  • Ability to challenge estimates and code reviews
  • Excellent communication on technical and non-technical subjects

Nice to have:

  • Cloud platforms and serverless architectures (we use AWS: Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, IAM, EventBridge, SNS, SQS, S3, CDK)
  • Docker
  • Python
  • OWASP experience
