Together we support an inclusive, flexible working pattern—including remote, office and hybrid delivery—aligned with the role’s operational requirements which may involve travel to client and other Thales UK sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure department/product/project management plans are kept up‑to‑date and governance is executed at the appropriate level.
  • Ensure development is performed in accordance with the plans.
  • Liaise with Project Customers as required.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the work package performance, identify and manage risks throughout the lifecycle until closure.
  • Deliver the work package to agreed timescales and budget, managing any scope changes.
  • Capture and monitor metrics appropriate to each stage of the project/product lifecycle, and enact continuous improvement plans.
  • Review Engineering Forward Load with SWEM and Head of SW Delivery.
  • Contribute to bid activities including estimates, project scheduling and bid gate review inputs.
  • Proactively expand professional knowledge and encourage innovation of ideas.
  • Develop necessary skills through training, mentoring and feedback.
  • Support less experienced team members, ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Lead by example and use the Thales Leadership model to create a high‑performing, coaching culture.

Essential Experience

  • Background in Software Engineering and experience of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Proven application of engineering project delivery and processes across the full project lifecycle, with awareness of commercial impacts.
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile methodologies and practices.
  • Experience of configuration control and change management.
  • Experience of requirements management, software design and development.
  • Experience of Integration and Verification activities.
  • Experience of risk management.
  • Experience of bid management and estimation techniques.
  • Good understanding of current trends in software engineering development techniques and technologies.
  • Experience of industry‑standard software engineering toolsets.

Beneficial Experience

  • Substantial and proven experience in a SW Delivery role with delivery management across multiple integrated SW Development, Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification teams.
  • Experience managing multi‑million‑pound SW work packages.
  • Experience of multi‑site/multi‑country development within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of SW sub‑contract management.
  • Experience with specific management toolsets e.g. Atlassian Jira, Windchill PLM.

Qualifications

  • Degree‑qualified or equivalent.
