Good Afternoon, I am currently representing Westminster Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

Role

Solicitor (Childcare)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver legal and procedural advice on childcare law to Members, Officers, and partner agencies.
  • Manage routine and complex legal cases, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of advice and services.
  • Draft legal documents, prepare court submissions, and conduct legal research.
  • Advise on relevant legislation, case law, and procedural changes, keeping the council informed.
  • Support the Principal Solicitor and Director of Law on significant, politically sensitive cases.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience advising on local authority duties and powers relating to children and young adults.
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales. Applications from trainees nearing qualification will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of childcare law, related legislation, and case law.
