Main Responsibilities

  • Accountable for running an individual caseload.
  • Provide support, guidance, and assistance to the team to deliver outstanding service to clients.
  • Contribute to proactive and commercial case management and progression across the team.
  • Support the Team Leader/Head of Department in ensuring delivery of the team's financial and performance KPIs.
  • Record time accurately and thoroughly.
  • Discuss and agree case tactics and planning with the Team Leader/Head of Department and team members.
  • Identify and drive cases ready for LOC, settlement, and service within the team.
  • Collate relevant information to enable progression of cases.
  • Manage a caseload in a proactive commercial manner and coordinate progression with internal and external parties.
  • Draft legal documentation including LOC and letters of instruction; negotiate settlements and issue/serve proceedings if required; litigate claims as needed.
  • Oversee documentation and correspondence produced by the team; advise on technical issues with support from leadership.
  • Attend conferences with counsel, client meetings, and court outside standard hours when necessary.
  • Participate in business development activities and contribute ideas and articles.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Recent experience of handling a caseload
  • NQ to 5 years PQE or equivalent in Clinical Negligence
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, Proclaim, and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness within a legal environment
  • Ability to work well with junior team members, providing coaching and mentoring
  • Flexible and willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines
  • Excellent client care skills
  • Resilient with experience of managing challenging situations
  • A full clean driving licence is desirable
