About The Role

As a Solution Architect (SA) you will use your understanding of the Engine technology and architecture to explain the Engine product, uncover client requirements, and support the design of client solutions. You will be involved in both the sales and delivery phases of a project as well as ongoing client success, working across Engine and collaborating with Engineering, Delivery, Product, Client Success and Business Development teams. Travel around the UK, Europe, the Middle East and occasional further travel is required; six-month international secondments and/or relocation are possible to support client delivery.

What You'll Get To Do

  • Balance deep technical expertise with strong communication and collaboration to become an Engine expert and effectively communicate capabilities to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during client implementations, guiding integration, best practices, and platform workflows.
  • Collaborate with Engine Engineering and Product teams to design, build, and deliver new features – from concept to deployed APIs, mobile journeys, and Management Portal enhancements.
  • Contribute to Engine product roadmap and support sales through technical demos and client workshops.
  • Lead technical topics during Engine Discovery phases with prospective clients and ensure alignment between technical possibilities and business needs.
  • Understand target country banking regulations and define necessary localizations. Work with clients and SI partners to design solutions and document scope and roadmap decisions.
  • Help partners design and build their integration environment, identify third-party dependencies, and document integration scope for delivery waves.
  • Provide ongoing technical guidance to client engineering teams and collaborate with Client Success to troubleshoot issues and architect innovative solutions.

Requirements

Must Have

  • Experience of end-to-end software engineering / solution architecture across the software delivery lifecycle
  • Experience with software service design and integration, such as RESTful APIs, OpenAPI specification and sequence diagrams
  • Experience working in a client-facing role and building relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills; experience delivering complex messaging to technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have

  • Experience relating to retail or business banking, core banking, card processing or payments
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure and large-scale cloud applications
  • Experience with delivery and implementation of core banking or large-scale digital transformation programs, application migration and solution integration
  • Experience rapidly understanding client problems and presenting technical solutions in a structured manner
  • Experience with AWS or GCP, Microservices, RESTful APIs, Java & PostgreSQL

Interview process

  • First interview (30/45/60 mins) – Phone (1 or 2 interviews with Engine team members)
  • Second Architecture interview, including a small presentation/system design (90 mins)
  • Final interview (30 mins)
