Job Role: Solution Architect

Location: Northampton

Work mode – two days in the office per week (increasing to three days from June/July)

Purpose of the role

To design, develop, and implement solutions for complex business problems by collaborating with stakeholders to understand their needs. The role involves designing solutions that balance technological risks with business delivery, promoting consistency across projects.

Accountabilities

• Design and develop solutions as products that can evolve, meeting business requirements aligned with modern software engineering practices and automated delivery tools. This includes selecting and implementing appropriate technologies and platforms.
• Engage in targeted design activities that optimize workload placement strategies and leverage cloud capabilities such as elasticity, serverless computing, and containerization.
• Ensure best practice designs that incorporate security principles like defense in depth and reduction of blast radius, meeting the Bank's resiliency standards.
• Create solutions that balance risks and controls to deliver the expected business and technological value.
• Adopt standardized solutions where applicable, and contribute to their ongoing evolution when custom solutions are necessary.
• Support fault finding and performance troubleshooting for operational teams using available tools.
• Assess the impact of solutions in terms of risk, capacity, and cost, including estimating project changes and ongoing operational costs.
• Develop architecture documentation required for compliance with governance processes, including design artifacts for architecture, privacy, security, and records management.
