AWS Solutions Architects are part of a group of architects supporting strategic and major industry-leading companies, working as engineers to develop and implement technology-driven solutions for industry-specific business challenges alongside our customers. Customer business requirements vary greatly, with industry-specific business circumstances, unique data, and workloads. In the retail and consumer goods industry particularly, beyond simply selling products and services, businesses are transforming through advanced stores, enhanced customer touchpoints including EC sites and mobile applications, value chain optimization through demand forecasting, logistics reform, digital marketing and call centre advancement - utilizing not only cloud but also leading technologies like Agentic AI.
As a Solutions Architect focusing on the retail and consumer goods industry, let's work together with customers to envision new businesses, drive the consideration of enabling technologies, and actively challenge unprecedented initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Promote AWS value and provide architectural/technical support to major retail and consumer goods companies.
- Define long-term milestones for customers' existing and new business success.
- Provide appropriate solutions for customers' business and technical challenges using latest technologies.
- Disseminate AWS technical information internally and externally through seminars, hands-on sessions, and workshops.
- Contribute to AWS platform improvements working with service development teams based on customer feedback.
- Be the thought leader within AWS, working with regional and global technical teams and communities to capture industry solutions and sharing it across geographies to drive impact through reusable asset creation and maintenance.
A day in the life
We build long-term relationship with our customer stakeholders as their trusted technical advisor with guidance on addressing their business challenges. Working closely with sales teams, we analyse and propose solutions for challenges ranging from IT department operations to new business initiatives and management issues. Collaborating with global tech community, we progress through implementation stages via architecture development, demos, prototyping with AWS and partner solutions. The work style is flexible, including both on-site whiteboarding and online meetings. This is a dynamic workplace where countless communication networks emerge daily, with opportunities to both receive and provide expertise support to wider technical community.

About the team
The AWS Industries team is committed to helping industry customers enable their digital transformation journeys. Our primary goal is to meet customers in their cloud journeys and work backwards from their industry-specific needs to transform their businesses and industries. Our team focuses on business outcomes and industry use cases on behalf of our customers, whether that is how we build products and solutions, how we sell, how we deliver, or how we partner.
We are part of the global Retail/ Consumer Packaged Goods organisation offering industry thought leadership within AWS. While we engage with the most strategic and global customers for AWS, we also have a bigger responsibility of identify industry trends and looking around corners to help AWS customers adopt or accelerate their journeys towards these trends. We are a global team that thrives on collaboration and values mutual respect. New team members receive necessary training programs, along with OJT and role-playing with team members, ensuring a solid onboarding process to become cloud service professionals.
Basic Qualifications
- Japanese language fluency and business English (reading and writing) skills
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- Architecture design capability using cloud services, AI, and other latest technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in learning new technologies/services and taking on new challenges
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
- Experience in digital initiatives for digital marketing, demand forecasting, store systems, and call centers
- Architect/consulting experience at vendor companies or system integrators
- Experience presenting to customer executive management
- Speaking experience at industry seminars and various events
- Experience in writing proposals/responses to RFI/RFP
