Job Overview
Exciting opportunity for a motivated, experienced pharmacist to join the dynamic pharmacy team at Wexham Park Hospital. This role ideal for Primary Care Pharmacists transitioning into hospital pharmacy and for junior hospital pharmacists seeking a specialist rotational role within a supportive, progressive environment. The Band 7 rotations provide exposure to a wide range of clinical specialties and develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required for progression to advanced or specialist roles.
Key Responsibilities
Place the patient at the centre of all decisions and actions.
Demonstrate strong communication, clinical, and interpersonal skills.
Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Be organised, proactive, and adaptable, managing changing priorities and contributing positively to service development.
Collaborate with Lead Pharmacists, clinicians, nursing staff, and senior managers to enhance and develop pharmaceutical services across multiple directorates, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines and optimal patient outcomes.
Deliver and develop pharmaceutical care in line with the Trust’s strategic and departmental objectives, collaborating closely with clinical teams to support medicines optimisation and service improvement.
Provide education, training, and supervision for junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.
Participate in clinical governance, research, audit, and service development to drive continuous quality improvement.
Fulfil duties as part of the late, weekend, and Bank Holiday rotas and contribute to the on‑call service in line with departmental requirements.
Support the delivery of consistent and integrated pharmacy services across sites, including Heatherwood Hospital.
Employment Details
Part‑time position; expected participation in evening, weekend, and Bank Holiday duties as part of the departmental rota.
Base primarily at Wexham Park Hospital, with potential travel to other sites within the Trust.
Qualifications & Experience
Pharmacy degree (Master level, 4 years).
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Within 12 months of completion of Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
Recent hospital clinical pharmacy experience.
Post‑registration provision of clinical pharmacy services to a broad range of clinical specialities.
Desirable: Independent pharmacist prescriber.
Desirable: Completion of Diploma in Clinical Practice or equivalent.
Desirable Skills
Presentation skills.
Ability to train others and present data effectively as evidence‑based reports/cases.
Evidence of up to date CPD in clinical pharmacy.
Experience of audit, protocol development, and service development.
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society or UK Clinical Pharmacy Association.
