The role
Are you passionate about the marine environment with experience advising on policy and strategy for marine industries? Join our Marine & Coastal Policy & Planning team to help address climate and nature emergencies in Wales. You will develop and deliver strategic environmental advice to Welsh & UK Government, The Crown Estate, and other stakeholders regarding marine industries and renewable energy deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting development of NRW's marine industry policy, advice, and guidance.
- Monitoring marine industry sectors and related policies.
- Planning and prioritising NRW's marine industries work.
- Engaging with government, industry, and partners on marine matters.
- Providing input to governance structures and preparing briefings and papers.
Additional duties:
- Preparing technical assessments and managing policy development.
- Liaising with stakeholders and managing evidence projects.
- Maintaining sector knowledge and contributing to groups and initiatives.
- Supporting personal development and health & safety responsibilities.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of Welsh, UK, and EU marine legislation and policies.
- Experience in technical analysis of complex environmental data.
- Experience working with statutory bodies, industry, and NGOs.
- Project management experience and/or qualifications.
- Membership of a relevant professional body is desirable.
Welsh Language Level:
- Essential: Level A1 (basic phrases and greetings)
