Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated band 4/5 pharmacy technicians to work as part of our pharmacy clinical trials team at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. Experience and knowledge of ICH good clinical practice and being a current holder of ACPT accreditation would be an advantage but is not essential. These permanent posts require specialist training in GCP and IMP management. You will work as a Senior Technician in Clinical Trials Pharmacy and must be committed to providing the highest quality of research and care for patients across all specialties.

Job responsibilities
You will be responsible for setting up trials, ensuring they run smoothly, including accurate record keeping and drug accountability, reviewing protocol-specific guidelines, and liaising within a multidisciplinary team.
You need to be able to multitask, possess excellent communication skills, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a busy office.
Your responsibilities include:
- Supporting dispensing of clinical trials prescriptions
- Once ACPT qualified, supporting checking of clinical trials prescriptions
- Setting up assigned clinical trial studies
- Following site procedures accurately and promptly
- Liaising with Clinical Research Associates/Organizations (CRA/CRO) to fulfill workflow tasks
- Following up on queries timely
- Producing study site file documentation efficiently

Qualifications / Training Required
- Registered pharmacy technician in the UK by GPhC or Science Manufacturing Technician (Level 3 Diploma) by the Science Council
- Numerate and literate, e.g., GCSE Maths and English A*-C or equivalent, IELTS score 7 if overseas
- Additional pharmacy qualifications such as ACPT, PIPC, TAQA assessor, CIPS Level 4, or equivalent management experience
- Completion of Practice Supervisor Programme or equivalent
Previous Relevant Experience
- Accurate dispensing in hospital or community pharmacy or aseptics
- Dealing with customers/patients
- Hospital pharmacy experience
- Stock control and ordering
- Experience with JAC or similar systems
- Experience related to role, e.g., medicines management, clinical trials, aseptic services
