Spot Power Trading Analyst

You will play a key role in our Optimisation and Structuring (OPS) team, offering a fast-paced environment focused on short-term speculative and physical power and gas trading alongside intra-day optimisation of physical and virtual assets.
You will actively support the spot trading desk with forecasts, market views and trading opportunities, and contribute directly to team profitability.
The role will make the most of your strong analytical and numerical skills, a keen market instinct, and a drive to build analytical tools supporting our traders with their decision making.
How will I spend my time in this role?
- Supporting traders with flexible analytics;
- Engage in weather-window, day-ahead and intra-day analytics with detailed understanding of market driving fundamentals;
- Support with accurate P&L reporting and performance analysis;
- Co-ordinate with traders and counterparties to confirm contract notifications;
- Develop analytical tools to improve trading performance and asset dispatch;
- Review presented opportunities and support with deal structuring and value assessments.
What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Degree in a numerical field (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or related disciplines);
- Experience as a fundamental market analyst or short-term power/gas trader covering UK Spot, EU Spot and interconnector markets.
