Overview

SQL Server Developer with SSIS and SSRS at Free-Work UK.

Base pay range: £60K – £75K. Location: Central London. The position requires in-office presence three days a week. The client does NOT provide sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver data pipelines (collect, validate and prepare high-quality data) to automate and streamline processes used by different departments.
  • Support existing SSIS ETLs (overnight and intraday); proactively fine-tune and enhance existing code to improve robustness and error monitoring.
  • Support the internal IT department with changes and upgrades to software platforms.
  • Convert legacy Hyperion reports to SSRS.
  • Analyze issues raised by in-house systems (e.g., CORE, SharePoint interface, Equation end-of-day cycle) and develop appropriate solutions based on system definition documents.
  • Understand business requirements to deliver solutions across the full development life cycle; apply advanced 4GL programming concepts where relevant.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines within the SQL environment (SSIS); introduce new fields and data types as needed for CORE data.
  • Build tabular models (SSAS) for different business units; create reports using SQL SSRS; integrate with bank sub-systems using data abstraction and connectivity (e.g., ODBC, ADO.NET).
  • Ensure the environment runs with high standards of housekeeping and performance.
  • Integrate the SharePoint environment and forms with the Equation system to automate processes and reduce duplicate entry; utilise web services to connect cutting-edge technology with legacy systems.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support during the end-of-day cycle; analyse and rectify problems independently and in teams; take ownership and deliver timely solutions; provide out-of-hours support.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and adhere to Risk and Compliance policies; report breaches or potential non-compliance promptly; execute controls to minimise risk; identify and escalate risk gaps as needed.
  • Complete annual mandatory regulatory refresher training; pursue recommended technical and behavioral competencies; comply with FCA/PRA Code of Conduct; fulfil business continuity requirements.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree level qualified or equivalent.
  • MS SQL stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) to a high level of proficiency – Essential.
  • C# Programming / JavaScript programming – Desirable.
  • Knowledge of software analysis and design best practices; dimensional modelling, ER modelling, normalised modelling; data warehouse design concepts (Inmon, Kimball).
