Overview

We are seeking a passionate Staff Data Engineer to support the delivery of our data transformation. Working within a squad of data engineers, you will work with partners from across the business to implement the data strategy, delivering value to the organisation and achieving our goal of democratising data. You will be an advocate for our industry leading BEAM Cloud Data Platform. As an equal partner with the Product and Delivery teams you will deliver elegant and robust solutions for complex problems affecting our customers and colleagues. You will play a key role in driving our ambition to create a best-in-class data engineering function. We are looking for people to join our community of engineers to drive this transformation, build a modern data platform using exciting technologies and do the best work of their careers.

What You\'ll Do

  • Design, build and maintain high-quality, reliable data solutions and own them with a high degree of automation in the cloud.
  • Provide technical leadership to a small squad of engineers.
  • Own complex tasks in the backlog and deliver them routinely with no significant issues.
  • Lead in the development of M&S standard data frameworks and policies, ensuring that they are understood and adopted.
  • Support other data engineers to produce clean, quality code through code reviews and pair programming.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals.

Who You Are

  • Leadership mentality, business acumen, and a big-picture approach.
  • Expertise in cloud-based data technologies and data warehousing design principles, preferably Azure.
  • Experience in design/build of end-to-end data solutions.
  • Demonstrable experience with ETL tools, e.g. Databricks, SQL.
  • Demonstrable experience with Python/SQL/Spark.
