We are looking to hire a Staff DevOps Engineer to the join the operations Engineering Architecture team based in our Edinburgh. The role is hybrid requiring 2-3 days a week in the brand new top floor office in Edinburgh.

What You'll Do

  • Define, refine, automate, and improve our processes so that as a company we’re more efficient, effective, safe, and secure
  • Define, refine, implement, and promote common standards across our products so that as a company we’re more efficient, effective, safe, and secure
  • Develop prototypes to evaluate technical solutions
  • Perform research necessary to solve complicated technical issues
  • Be a champion for technology and innovation within N‑able, as well as the wider community
  • Work directly with DevOps and Engineering teams guiding implementation to DevOps process and standards

What You'll Bring

  • Positive and solution-oriented mindset coupled with a proven track record designing and overseeing the implementation of high-availability, high volume SaaS products, Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
  • Practical understanding and application of enterprise build and deployment architectures and patterns
  • Understand the pros and cons of various architectural approaches to building software, understanding of REST, SOA and Microservices and the challenges imposed by each of these architecture patterns
  • Familiarity with best practices of CI/CD, Secrets management such as HashiCorp Vault or AWS Secrets Server
  • Message Queue Systems (Rabbit MQ, Kafka) and other Integration Patterns, NoSQL Solutions (Cassandra, Amazon DynamoDB, Elasticsearch)
  • Expert knowledge of programming in at least one of ECMAScript, Java, Go, C#, or C++. and of Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure platforms
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and Kubernetes designing Cloud Native applications, Understanding of asymmetric and symmetric cryptography
