Staff Platform Engineer, Windows Deployment and Management Automation

New Today

Overview

Level: 4-5

Role Type: Permanent or Contract

Location: Hybrid - work on site in our London office 3x/wk

The Mission

Our platform is at the cutting edge of life sciences automation. It already saves lives — and now we’re scaling it globally. That means delivering not just backend and cloud infra, but also secure, automated, self-service Windows environments that allow our teams and customers to move faster at scale.

We’re looking for a Staff Platform Engineer who can bring deep expertise in Windows automation and global deployment — building platforms where provisioning, security, and management are frictionless and automated from day one.

The Role

As a Staff Platform Engineer (Windows), you’ll be a hands-on contributor and a technical leader for all things Windows provisioning, management, and deployment. You’ll design and implement automation-first solutions that enable self-service provisioning, application delivery, and global scale deployments with low overhead.

You’ll work across engineering, security, and product teams to ensure Windows environments are reliable, compliant, and scalable — while also lightweight and automated to fit a startup/scale-up environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Automate Everything: Design and build automated provisioning + deployment pipelines for Windows environments.
  • Self-Serve Platforms: Create platforms for engineers and teams to provision and manage applications or custom solutions independently.
  • Security & Compliance: Embed security, identity, and compliance into automation (policy enforcement, patching, endpoint protection).
  • Scale Globally: Deliver systems that work at global scale, from cloud-hosted to hybrid deployments.
  • Greenfield to Production: Evolve solutions iteratively — starting lean, delivering fast, and scaling seamlessly.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with engineers, product, and security to align platform goals with product outcomes.

What You Bring

  • Strong expertise in Windows automation (PowerShell, Desired State Configuration (DSC), WinRM).
  • Experience with self-service deployment platforms (SCCM, Intune, MDT, Group Policy, or similar).
  • Proven ability to automate application deployment + custom solution delivery at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud + hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of security and compliance for Windows platforms (AD, Kerberos, identity management, patch automation).
  • Experience running Windows deployments in product/platform environments, with modularity and global scale in mind.
  • Startup/scaleup DNA: comfortable iterating quickly, automating as default, and keeping solutions lightweight.
  • Familiarity with modern identity and access solutions (Okta, Authentik, AAD).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with IaC tools for Windows (Terraform with Windows providers, Ansible with Windows modules).
  • Exposure to containerised Windows environments (Windows Server containers in Kubernetes or Docker).
  • Exposure to IoT or hybrid edge + Windows deployments.

Why Join Us

  • Shape the Windows automation backbone of a global platform that directly impacts human health.
  • Build self-service, secure, automated systems that let teams move faster at scale.
  • Join a senior, high-calibre engineering team working closely with product, design, and data.
  • Hybrid working: 3 days in our London office, balanced with flexibility.
  • Competitive package, plus the opportunity to do career-defining, meaningful work.

If you’re a staff-level platform engineer who thrives on Windows automation, security, and scale — and want your work to have global impact — this is your role.
