Statutory Compliance Consultant
Location: Euston/Hybrid
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am-5pm
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
The role is critical in ensuring the statutory and regulatory compliance of the properties under group control (all brands). The consultant will ensure the overall compliance of their respective portfolio in relation to Gas, Electrical, Smoke & Carbon, Legionnaires, and licensing regulations. This will involve the review and verification of certificates received from multiple sources, monthly reporting, and the arranging of new inspections and tests as required. The consultant will liaise with landlords, tenants, contractors, and other stakeholders as needed to facilitate the above and also escalate remedial works to the respective property manager or the landlord. The role is crucial in supporting Campions’ commitment to maintain a strong compliance culture and protect our customers, clients, and the organisation.
Main Responsibilities
- Maintain full oversight of the current portfolio in relation to certificate and inspection expiry dates.
- Conduct cyclical reports identifying all certificates, checks, and reports due for renewal in advance.
- Notify and confidently advise landlords of the required checks, tests, and reports needed and take their instructions.
- Where a property is managed or instructed by non-managed landlords, arrange for an appropriate approved contractor to attend by generating works orders.
- Liaise with tenants and contractors to arrange required access and, if suitable, with the local branch to release keys.
- Ensure effective follow-up and monitoring so that all identified items are actioned before their respective expiry dates.
- Review documentation received to ensure it has been completed fully, in line with respective requirements, and is valid.
- Add verified documentation to the CRM system and set correct expiry dates.
- Where remedial works are identified, liaise with the landlord or, where the property is managed, with the relevant property manager to progress repairs.
- Follow up with property managers to ensure remedial works are completed on time and new certificates are issued.
- Ensure correct fees and charges are invoiced in accordance with the specific brand's terms of business.
- Assist with the build and rollout of new certificate verification software.
- Assist within the team where workloads increase or where absences are present.
- In collaboration with the rest of the team, ensure overall compliance for the group portfolio of tenanted properties is maintained.
- Other relevant duties as and when required.
- Role-appropriate qualification and/or experience — technically strong and commercially astute
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Property Management Compliance or a related field
- Strong understanding of statutory safety and certificate requirements for tenanted properties
- In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to residential lettings
- Good understanding of deal progression in lettings transactions
- Highly motivated and proactive self-starter with a demonstrable ability to work to tight deadlines
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly
- Proficient in using audit tools and software
- Positive and robust attitude with a high level of personal motivation
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and knowledge of when to escalate complaints or seek support
