Job Title: Storm Overflow Engagement Officer. Location: hybrid role serving the region; applicants must hold a full, clean driving license and have use of a vehicle. Contract Type: Permanent. Hours: 37 hours per week. Salary: circa £38,000.

Storm overflows are a priority for improvement. The Clean Rivers & Seas Task Force is implementing pioneering solutions to reduce spills and reliance on overflows while enhancing the environment for communities. The programme has progressed from a £45million Pathfinder phase to a £1.5billion investment over the next 10 years in sustainable storm overflow reduction across the region (Kent, Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight).

This role supports the team to raise awareness of the Task Force’s activities and educate the public on the debate and challenges associated with storm overflows. It also focuses on partnership and community engagement to communicate, listen and collaborate with customers and stakeholders.

This is a dynamic role with on-site tours, updates to colleagues, community drop-in events and planning of the regional engagement programme.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and attend meetings, site tours, events with customers and stakeholders, and support the running of customer drop-ins and similar activities carried out by the Task Force.
  • Respond to community requests for engagement, talks, and information about Southern Water’s activities to reduce storm overflows.
  • Help develop the engagement programme to educate and inform the communities served.
  • Provide administrative support to track engagement activities and upcoming meetings, tours and events, ensuring engagement aligns with key messaging.

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday with hybrid working across the region, central office and home.
