We are seeking a Strategic Business Development Manager to lead the acquisition and expansion of high-value national partnerships, each generating over £50 million in GMV. This role is pivotal in establishing Zopa’s footprint in key verticals and driving strategic growth through complex, high-impact initiatives. You will set the sales rhythm and strategy, oversee specific verticals, and craft go-to-market plans within each vertical, ensuring successful launches and sustained relationships across all levels of the verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction for product verticals in partnership with the leadership team, including go-to-market strategy for retail finance products.
  • Identify, engage, and secure partnerships with major national merchants, managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract negotiation.
  • Craft tailored value propositions and commercial models, collaborating with internal teams to develop bespoke solutions and flexible pricing for different sectors.
  • Represent Zopa at industry events, delivering talks and networking with decision-makers to stay ahead of trends.
  • Work independently in the field, using data and market insights to shape vertical strategies and partner with senior stakeholders.

About You / Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in national-level sales or partnerships, preferably in fintech, retail, or SaaS.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills across revenue sharing and contract terms.
  • Ability to influence at C-suite level within Zopa and partner organizations, including CFOs and CTOs.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to create structure in evolving markets; experience launching new products in regulated environments.
  • Experience managing long sales cycles, building consensus, and delivering measurable growth such as GMV increases or new verticals.

This role is remote based but will require travel to clients and to the London/Manchester offices for meetings.
