Overview
De Beers Group (DBG) is a 135-year-old rough diamond mining, sorting and selling organisation. Within DBG sits the De Beers Polished Diamond Division which aims to vertically integrate De Beers by managing the polishing and procurement of diamonds for De Beers Jewellers, Forevermark, and the Origin polish program. It is poised to enhance De Beers’ market position by ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality polished diamonds and leveraging advanced technologies for market competitiveness. The Polished Diamond Division seeks to streamline operations to improve margins and ensure a high-quality diamond supply for De Beers brands. By utilizing AI and machine learning, the division aims to validate demand and optimize inventory management. Additionally, it will enable De Beers to establish and grow contract polishing, develop new polishing facilities, and explore mergers and acquisitions for further expansion.
Responsibilities
Build presentations to support the head of polished to represent the Polished Division in SLT-level engagements and for external audiences
- Support the finance team to translate strategic financial objectives into relevant short term financial targets
- Build business cases for new commercial opportunities for the Polished Division, including financial modelling
- Support polished brands (such as Origin) in their commercial direction setting, leveraging sales insights, relationships and external research
Process & Systems Innovation
- Act as the business owner for systems implementation projects to build and mature the Polished Division systems infrastructure
- Support operational effectiveness across the functions of Polished Division (and beyond) to ensure on-time, sustainable and profitable delivery
- Support De Beers brands to maximise efficiency and value from their diamond supplier
- Lead design of new reporting to drive data quality, create insights and unlock commercial optimization and operational efficiency opportunities
- Champion the use of BI tools to deliver insightful, self-service reporting to business stakeholders, empowering data-driven decision-making across the organization
Governance
Partner with the operations leads and finance team to develop, codify and implement robust internal controls to support audit compliance
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 yrs experience in a consulting environment or driving change in a corporate environment
- Proficiency adding structure to ambiguous situations; bringing clarity (supported by data) to enable better decision making
- Experience driving change in complex corporate environments
- Ideally experience driving systems transformations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, to influence stakeholders across and outside the team
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ideal candidate will have understanding of PowerBI and/or data science tools
