Strategy Senior Manager Marine
Purpose of Role: This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering The Crown Estate’s marine strategy. The Senior Strategy Manager will lead cross-cutting strategic initiatives ensuring alignment between enterprise-wide ambitions and marine-specific delivery. The role will help drive the Marine Delivery Routemap (MDR), sector strategies, and cross-sectoral collaboration, while also acting as a strategic integrator across internal teams and external stakeholders. The role may provide direct strategic support to the Marine Managing Director (MD), on an as required basis.
Main accountabilities
- Strategic Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives across the Marine SBU, ensuring alignment with The Crown Estate’s enterprise strategy and the Marine Delivery Routemap
- Provide high-quality strategic advice, briefing, and thought partnership to the Marine MD, including preparation for key engagements, board updates, and cross-sector forums. Liaising closely with the EA to the MD to provide information in advance and inline with relevant deadlines
- Translate complex policy, regulatory, and market signals into actionable strategic insights and delivery plans
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a strategic integrator across Planning & Technical, Evidence & Analysis, and Commercial teams to ensure coherent delivery of marine priorities
- Coordinate with Group Strategy, Corporate Affairs, and Sustainability to embed marine priorities into enterprise-wide initiatives
- Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of shared outcomes
- Collaborate closely with the Communications team and MD/MLT to shape and deliver strategic messaging, developing the Marine brand and narrative
- Governance & Performance
- Support the MD and EA to the MD in managing governance processes, including Marine Leadership Team meetings, strategic reviews, and performance tracking
- Lead the development of KPIs and impact frameworks to measure strategic progress and inform decision-making
Most important skills based requirements
- Proven experience in strategy development and execution, ideally within marine, energy, infrastructure, or public-private sectors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesise complex information into clear strategic recommendations
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and manage multiple priorities
- Experience directly supporting senior leaders, including preparing briefings, managing priorities, and acting as a trusted strategic advisor
- Desirable
- Understanding of marine policy, planning, or leasing frameworks
- Experience working in or with government, regulators, or statutory bodies
- Familiarity with The Crown Estate’s purpose and strategic role in enabling net zero, nature recovery, and inclusive growth
