The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) is set in the wider county of Berkshire. RBWM is a unitary authority that provides quality services to the community. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Street Naming and Numbering and GIS Officer to join our IT Services team.

The role leads, manages and has principal responsibility for Street Naming and Numbering (SNN) duties in accordance with policies and best practices. It also maintains the corporate Geographic Information System (GIS), including data digitisation and validation, supporting corporate GIS projects, maintaining existing GIS systems and web maps, and offering specialist GIS guidance in responding to geospatial enquiries. This multifaceted role supports critical council operations by managing and maintaining accurate geospatial data and overseeing the Street Naming and Numbering processes. The role reports to the Corporate Applications Team Leader.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the day-to-day administration of SNN processes and applications in accordance with statutory requirements; may involve on-site data collection and consultation with statutory bodies and other interested parties (e.g., Royal Mail, developers).
• Lead on supporting and promoting the use of Unique Property Reference Numbers (UPRN) across the Council.
• Digitally produce maps and spatial data to support Council projects and services, providing location-based intelligence.
• Create and maintain GIS training materials and supporting documentation.
• Maintain the Council's GIS systems, perform data collection, analysis and dissemination, and provide expert GIS support to various departments.
• Work with colleagues to ensure high accuracy and attention to detail across geospatial data work.

Qualifications and Skills

• Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Knowledge of database management systems and data migration.
• Good time management and prioritisation skills; ability to work under own initiative to achieve results and maintain a healthy work-life balance.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work unsupervised and liaise with other staff, while also contributing as part of a team.
