Structural Integrity Engineer - Submarines, Derby
Rolls Royce is seeking a talented Structural Integrity Engineer to join their Plant Structural Integrity department in Derby. This role involves conducting structural integrity assessments, including primary strength, fatigue, crack growth, and fracture assessments, in accordance with ASME III and R6 defect tolerance codes. The engineer will support various programmes, from in-service to new build and future projects, and will build and maintain Finite Element Analysis models to evaluate stresses and justify components.
The work is diverse and dynamic, requiring rapid response to emergent challenges, providing vital support to the Submarines enterprise.

Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assessments, including finite element analyses using Abaqus and other tools.
- Develop and support component designs, lifecycle management, and submarine enterprise support.
- Develop methodologies for assessing submarine nuclear plant components.
- Communicate assessment outcomes effectively to various audiences within Rolls-Royce and industry partners.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Degree in mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
- Interest and expertise in structural integrity analysis.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of failure mechanisms and assessment methods.
- Experience with finite element methods (preferably Abaqus).
- Understanding of safety case and design code requirements (ASME III, R6).
