Purpose
As Subject Lead for Sociology, you will play a pivotal role in supporting customers, retaining, and growing market share, and influencing the direction of Sociology education across the UK. You will provide internal consultancy, customer insight, and manage relationships with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in the planning, delivery, and improvement of Sociology qualifications and support, ensuring customer priorities are met.
- Represent AQA nationally through collaboration with stakeholders, centre visits, and Curriculum Connects online meetings to share feedback, prepare for future exam series, and gather insight.
- Use your subject expertise to respond to queries (mainly via email and CRM, triaged by customer services), support customers, and contribute to shaping national education—especially as reforms are introduced.
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Are a practising AS or A Level Sociology teacher (currently or within the last two years).
- Have an excellent understanding of the subject, specifications, and current pedagogy.
- Demonstrate inclusive leadership and effective stakeholder management skills.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, with excellent presentation and training abilities.
- Have a continuous improvement mindset, able to interpret data to inform decision making and monitor impact.
- Are skilled at influencing and brand advocacy.
- Can travel nationally and stay overnight as required.
