OverviewJob Title: Sustainability Risk Manager (Nature & ESG) - 12 month FTCLocation: Bristol or BirminghamHours: Full timeSalary: £59,850 - £66,500End Date: Tuesday 14 October 2025Flexible Working Options: Hybrid Working, Job Share, Reduced HoursThe role sits within the Supply Chain & Technology Sustainability Team in Group Sourcing & Supplier Management. You will help improve the sustainability impacts of our supply chain, reduce supplier carbon emissions, and ensure suppliers meet ESG requirements around ethics, modern slavery, human rights and nature. The role supports the Group’s ambition to reduce supply chain emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050. It provides exposure to activity to improve the sustainability of technology and data across the Group Chief Operating Office.About the opportunity: We are looking for someone who wants to contribute to a more sustainable future, stay updated with current affairs, and bring new ideas to the team. This is a chance to join a high-performing team with cross-divisional engagement and external collaboration.Role focus: You will manage our ESG risk lifecycle, establish and document risk appetite and measurement across topics, and manage tooling and data products that support risk assessment. The role covers Climate and Nature, as well as Social and Governance topics including Modern Slavery and Human Rights. You will own the Nature and circular economy strategy and reporting, including LEAP assessments and reporting against the zero-waste pledge.Key responsibilitiesBringing together existing risk frameworks across topics into one ESG risk lifecycle and documenting key methodologies and criteria for risk managementIdentifying data or tooling gaps to optimize ESG risk assessment and partnering with internal/external teams to implement improvementsBuilding relationships with stakeholders to set and update risk appetite and maintain the approachDesigning a streamlined approach to regularly assess suppliers for ESG risk, with opportunities to automateCompleting Nature LEAP assessment in partnership with central Nature teamOwning the strategy for Nature, evolving commitments and supplier approachesOwning reporting against the technology element of the Zero Waste pledge to meet regulatory expectationsWhat you’ll needUnderstanding of external ESG regulation and frameworksExperience with materiality assessments or other ESG risk assessments and ongoing management of ESG riskUnderstanding of Nature/Biodiversity and its role in climate transition planningCollaboration: managing multiple relationships across the business to deliver on projectsCommunication: excellent verbal and written skills, adaptable messagingProject delivery: evidence of delivery in fast-paced environments across multiple projectsData analysis: ability to interpret data to prioritise actions that support carbon reduction goalsNice to have: Experience working within a team focused on sourcing or supply chain managementAbout working for usOur ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion and to create an environment where everyone can thrive, learn and develop.
