Systems Accountant

New Today

About The Role

RAC is looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled Systems Accountant to join our Consumer Roadside division. This is a newly created role with strategic importance, previously covered solely by the hiring manager. Sitting within the FP&A team, you’ll act as a vital bridge between Finance and Data teams, ensuring financial insight is embedded into our bold data transformation journey.

You’ll report into the Head of FP&A and collaborate with Data, Taxation and Pricing teams to ensure financial data is accurately captured, interpreted, and communicated. You’ll help translate financial requirements into system design, interrogate customer policy data, and assess how systems transform data to impact financial outcomes — including tax, reporting, and regulatory compliance. You’ll support the FP&A team, including month-end reporting requirements, and other members of the Consumer Roadside Finance team.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead month-end reporting and financial data flows across systems
  • Resolve data integrity issues and support transformation programmes
  • Translate complex technical findings into actionable financial insights
  • Support tax compliance, commercial analysis, and stakeholder reporting
  • Collaborate across Finance, IT, and Data teams to improve outcomes
  • Be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking FP&A team
  • Lead data interrogation and analysis using SQL and advanced Excel to support financial analysis and reporting
  • Identify and resolve data integrity issues across legacy systems and new platforms
  • Embed financial requirements in system design to support the data transformation programme
  • Document financial data flows and system dependencies

What You’ll Bring

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, data structures, and accounting principles
  • Advanced SQL and Excel skills; ability to analyse large data sets
  • Experience in complex organisations with legacy systems and transformation programmes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate in ambiguity
