Systems Engineering & Integration Consultant / Senior Consultant - Rail Job Description Responsibilities
Supporting project teams to solve complex integration problems for clients on major infrastructure programmes Leading tasks within a project environment, leading other resources on larger projects, or having sole accountability for small projects Demonstrating willingness and openness to challenge and learn from clients and colleagues, with a commitment to mentoring Early Career Professionals Working in challenging and exciting project environments, helping to define projects and adding value by applying pragmatic systems thinking and collaborative behaviours on large systems engineering projects Supporting interval team development activities focused on business and/or technical development Gaining commercial responsibility of projects and awareness of the wider business within a consultancy environment Proactively seeking knowledge and learning opportunities to determine the right approach to problems, considering competing needs and constraints of resources, availability, time and cost Maintaining an up‑to‑date CPD record while developing a professional network
Qualifications
A degree in a relevant engineering discipline Chartered status with a relevant professional body, or demonstrating eligibility to achieve Chartered status within the near future Post‑degree experience delivering systems integration in a rail environment Experience applying systems engineering tools (e.g. DOORS) and techniques (e.g. MBSE) Experience identifying and defining the appropriate approach to systems engineering on projects Experience in identifying and defining appropriate application of systems engineering tools on projects Ideally experience leading others in delivering systems engineering projects and/or tasks Background in client‑facing roles and/or experience in stakeholder engagement Experience across different lifecycle stages and a clear understanding of systems engineering challenges across stages Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills Innovative ideas for development of systems engineering services
