Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience

Employment type: Full time

Dynamic (hybrid) working: Balance of on-site/off-site open to discussion; part-time can be considered.

Security clearance: British Citizen; all successful candidates will need to undergo BPSS checks.

Role overview

We are looking for a Systems Engineering Lead to promote and drive best practice across the Data Link Systems group. You will shape how we approach our programmes, considering the needs and expectations of customers, the capability of technology and third‑party suppliers. Day‑to‑day you’ll be key in providing education, training and consultancy style, system design support to key programmes, tailored to their needs to ensure maximum benefit from best practice use. Within this role you will also support the development of team members, assessing core Systems Engineering techniques, developing and delivering process improvement and behavioural change to teams, and ensuring a full life‑cycle approach to systems design.

Key responsibilities

  • Support projects in their use of current and emerging systems engineering processes, methods and tools.
  • Actively promote best‑practice usage to improve efficiency and consistency across UK projects.
  • Deliver education, training and consultancy style system design support to key programmes.
  • Support the development of team members’ Systems Engineering knowledge.
  • Influence the Systems Engineering approach of new business and support established programmes in tailoring processes.
  • Shape the direction during transitions between programme phases.
  • Collaborate with key partners in MBDA UK and MBDA National sites to align processes and approaches.

Qualifications

  • Broad Systems Engineering experience covering the full life‑cycle.
  • Understanding of state‑of‑the‑art Systems Engineering methods and their application in the domain, including lifecycle issues on major projects.
  • Experience implementing MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) methodologies into practising programmes.
  • Ability to work autonomously and proactively, dealing with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience of systems architecture design.
  • Experience supporting colleague development.
