Hours: Full time, 08:30 - 17:00 Monday to Friday

About the Job
As the Unipart Tax and Compliance Accountant, the primary purpose of your role is to ensure corporate financial compliance. This includes the accurate and timely preparation, filing, and reporting of all tax responsibilities, as well as designing and maintaining effective internal controls to minimise risk and uphold the integrity of the organisation's financial records.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the quarterly VAT returns for the major VAT Groups
- Complete a monthly and quarterly analytical review of VAT variances
- Complete fortnightly reviews of transactions to ensure VAT compliance
- Monthly VAT cashflow forecast review & approval of UK and global VAT reconciliations
- Responding to internal queries in respect to VAT treatment of the classification of invoices, treatment of new arrangements and assessing current arrangements
- Responding to external queries by overseas tax authorities and co-ordination of any territory specific VAT audits which may be being conducted
- Involvement in the statutory filings review process for the overseas entities
- Ensuring compliance with other tax legislation e.g. Plastic Packaging tax
- Support in year- end planning activities (UK Dividends etc.)
- Undertaking ad hoc finance projects as required
About You
We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
- Qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA
- Preferably (relevant) degree qualified
- Ability to process information accurately, quickly and logically
- Attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Good analytical /problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and have the desire to build relationships at all levels of the operation
- Good communication skills
- Strong Excel or Google sheets skills are essential
- Ability to manipulate data and have a good understanding of systems (SAP preferably)
- Comfortable embracing and implementing new technological solutions for process improvement
- A confident self starter who uses their initiative and can work independently with little supervision
- Positive and proactive attitude
