Overview

Looking for an opportunity to flex your disputes skills in a different way? Then this is it.

As part of our market leading service in innovation incentives, we deliver consultancy services to our broad client base. This includes enquiry support, proactive engagement with HMRC, negotiating and reaching settlements, mediation and ADR, as well as assisting with more complex tax disputes. Our unmatched technical expertise means that we are well placed to support clients with further appeals and successfully defend decisions all the way to tribunal. We have advised clients on landmark tribunal cases and the work we do has a lasting impact on how they access innovation incentives.

Role and responsibilities

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join this ambitious and fast growing team. You will work directly with large and complex clients, taking ownership of projects, developing bespoke advice and delivering commercial solutions. As well as enquiry support and dispute resolution, you’ll be making voluntary disclosures and negotiating penalty mitigation strategies on behalf of our clients. You will be managing your own portfolio, so strong project management skills are essential, along with a thorough understanding of HMRC’s powers, including enquiries, information requests, assessments and claims, appeals, and penalties.

The growth of our tax disputes team is an important part of our long-term vision. You will have a real opportunity to identify new ways of taking our market leading service to a broader audience, win new business and develop this service line. You’ll also play an important role in helping to mentor and develop others – sharing your knowledge and helping us to nurture the next generation of ForrestBrowners.

Who we’re looking for / Qualifications

We’re looking for a commercially minded tax investigations manager, corporate tax or VAT adviser with investigations experience, or a disputes resolution lawyer with experience of resolving disputes with tax authorities. You’ll be ATT or CTA qualified, or hold a legal qualification, but you don’t need to know all the specifics of R&D already – that’s something we can teach you. You'll also need a pro-active attitude, a commercial approach and a desire to work collaboratively. If you can balance the expertise to support the needs of our existing clients, with the ability to spot future opportunities to increase our impact, then this is the role for you.

Benefits / Culture

So, if you’re a self-starter looking to use your tax experience in a different environment, where your passion, ambition and excellence can be rewarded, then you could be exactly what we’re looking for. Get in touch to find out more.

We welcome applications from candidates that appreciate flexibility in their work schedule. At ForrestBrown, our culture thrives on collaboration, learning, and celebrating success together.
