About the role
Do you want to solve one of the hardest problems using the power of Gen AI? Do you want to help enterprises unlock productivity by leveraging AI-driven insights and the next generation of automation?
At Quench.ai, we’re looking for a Team Lead to drive technical excellence, build and scale our Core Services engineering team of 7, and act as the right hand to the VP of Engineering & Product. This role suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, takes ownership, drives technical direction, and fosters a strong engineering culture.
As Team Lead, you will lead the Core Services engineering team, collaborate with product, design, and AI teams to build and scale our platform. You will manage and grow the engineering team, maintain high quality while delivering with startup velocity, and support the VP of Engineering and Product. Your role will shape technical strategy and engineering culture to keep Quench.ai at the forefront of engineering best practices.
Team Lead - Software Engineering responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Own the technical strategy for the team’s scope, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Lead the architecture and design of backend systems, APIs, and infrastructure to support rapid growth.
- Collaborate with the VP of Engineering & Product to align technical decisions with business goals.
- Champion best practices, code quality, and operational excellence.
Engineering Team Management & Growth
- Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering learning, innovation, and accountability.
- Scale the team by hiring and developing top engineering talent.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, and AI teams.
Delivery & Execution
- Own the engineering roadmap for the team and ensure timely, high-quality delivery of features and infrastructure improvements.
- Be ready to engage hands-on on complex activities to unblock the team when needed, acting as player and coach.
- Continuously evaluate and iterate on the team’s practices and challenge the status quo when necessary.
You may be suited for this role if you meet the following criteria
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership and team management.
- Proven experience scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Deep expertise in backend development (Python preferred), cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS), and system design.
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, containerization, observability, and microservices.
- Experience working with Product teams to align technical decisions with business priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into business impact.
- Passion for mentoring and growing engineers, fostering a high-performance team culture.
