We are seeking a skilled and motivated Team Manager to lead the team of social care professionals within the Adult Social Care Services. This is a key leadership role focused on delivering high-quality, strengths-based support to adults, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and needs are addressed effectively. As a manager you will work with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure your team achieves the objectives and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a locality-based team of Social Workers, Assessment and Enablement Workers (AEW), Senior AEWs, Community Support workers and Business Support team members.
  • Ensure the team delivers person-centred support in line with the Care Act 2014, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding adults at risk, promoting independence, and achieving positive outcomes.
  • Represent the Adult Social Care team in internal and external forums, developing service pathways and partnerships to meet local needs.
  • Provide expert oversight of safeguarding practice and manage risk across the locality.
  • Recruit, supervise, and support staff, promoting continuous professional development and identifying training needs.
  • Work collaboratively with other locality teams and wider council services to improve integration and service delivery.
  • Manage resources effectively, including budget oversight and authorisation of care packages.
  • Ensure data and information quality performance.
  • Support the implementation of service plans and Adult Social Care Strategy outcomes.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints, and uphold our values in how we interact with customers, colleagues and deliver services.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in supervising and managing staff, including qualified professionals, within a social care setting.
  • Preferably a recognised professional qualification (Degree or Diploma) in health or social care and hold relevant professional registration.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act and safeguarding frameworks.
  • Experience in leading safeguarding enquiries under Section 42 of the Care Act.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems and ability to present information to various audiences.
