OverviewTechnical Advisor Wastewater Treatment — Full time 37 hours per week. Location: Hybrid working with office location at Washington. Salary: £41,520 - £51,900 (depending on experience). Permanent role.Are you passionate about caring for the environment? We have an exciting opportunity to join our Wastewater Quality and Compliance team as a Technical Advisor, supporting us in maintaining and improving our high-quality wastewater discharges and providing expert technical support to the wastewater operational teams.ResponsibilitiesEnsure discharges from wastewater treatment works meet environmental standards and comply with environmental permits.Investigate operational issues, identify solutions, and implement improvements to environmental performance.Identify performance trends using data from various wastewater treatment works, assess risks, visit sites, and implement solutions to maintain excellent environmental performance.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure treated effluent discharges comply with permits and undertake investigations and technical projects.Conduct onsite technical investigations, gather accurate evidence, and prepare investigation reports with feedback and advice to stakeholders to maintain and improve environmental compliance.Prioritise a demanding workload, self-motivate, and meet deadlines to implement timely solutions.Support a wide range of colleagues across the wastewater directorate to help achieve strategic objectives.About You / QualificationsExpert knowledge and experience of wastewater treatment systems and processes.Excellent customer service skills.Knowledge and understanding of regulatory frameworks is desirable but not essential.Experience with Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety procedures.Proven ability to be a strong team player, involve and support others in problem-solving and decision-making, and manage relationships with stakeholders across the business.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with highly developed literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving abilities.Motivated to embrace innovation and identify potential improvements in ways of working.Full and valid driving licence with the ability to travel around the Northumbrian Water region and use of own vehicle.Commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity in the workplace.BenefitsGenerous holiday entitlement starting at 26 days, plus bank holidays and additional time off on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
