Overview
UBDS group is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Technical Architect (Data) to lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable data solutions across Azure and AWS cloud environments. This pivotal role will involve shaping the future data ecosystem for our client through strategic architectural leadership, with a strong focus on integration, governance, and innovative data technologies. As a member of the architecture function, you will bridge business objectives with technical capabilities—ensuring the data architecture aligns with enterprise strategy, supports operational efficiency, and promotes innovation through modern data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of end-to-end data architectures across hybrid cloud ecosystems (Azure and AWS).
- Develop integration solutions across multiple platforms and technologies, considering scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
- Conduct architecture evaluations and gap analyses of existing data systems, mapping out to-be states to support future platform roadmaps.
- Define, document and communicate data and system architectures using a full suite of artefacts including High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), system diagrams, flowcharts, and process maps.
- Facilitate governance and stakeholder engagement forums to gain consensus on target data architectures and proposed solutions.
- Design robust target operating models (TOMs), including data flow diagrams, microservices integration, Change Data Capture (CDC), and pub/sub architectures.
- Present architectural recommendations and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, tailoring messaging as required.
- Collaborate with engineering and delivery teams to ensure solutions are implemented in line with architectural specifications.
- Proven track record as a Data Solution or Technical Architect within enterprise or government environments.
- Expertise in cloud-based data architecture, with deep understanding of Azure and AWS data services.
- Strong background in data integration design, real-time data streaming, microservices, and enterprise-scale data flows.
- Experience conducting technology capability reviews and translating user needs into architectural roadmaps.
- Comprehensive understanding of data security principles and best practices in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Proficient in architectural documentation techniques including HLDs, LLDs, process modelling, system mapping, and stakeholder presentations.
- Demonstrable ability to define conceptual, logical, and physical architectures and system interfaces across complex data ecosystems.
Desirable:
- Experience working within regulated or public sector environments.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
