Overview

Our Principal Technical Architects are responsible for leading and delivering strategically significant, complex client engagements across our portfolio of clients. They lead the Technical Architecture and Cyber aspects of client engagements while overseeing wider delivery within the account, coach and develop team members, and monitor delivery to achieve high client satisfaction. They engage with clients to understand challenges and build lasting, trusted-advisor relationships, and oversee multiple concurrent client deliveries to share best practices across engagements and industries.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs, provide solution advice as a trusted advisor, and shape solutions that leverage Made Tech\'s capabilities.
  • Assess project performance within the billable delivery team, quality-assure deliverables and outcomes, and coach/mentor team members to achieve engagement outcomes and career development.
  • Act as a Technical Authority to provide oversight and ensure alignment with internal and industry best practices; capture engagement experience to improve standards and contribute to Made Tech knowledge.
  • Participate in business development activities, including bids and pre-sales within the account and practice; coach team members and oversee relevant technical aspects of proposal submissions.
  • Undertake people management responsibilities, including performance reviews and professional development of engagement and practice colleagues.
  • Serve as a thought leader within Made Tech and the public sector, representing the company at industry events and driving the sharing of best practices.

Skills, knowledge and expertise

Client

  • Understanding of the issues and challenges the public sector faces in delivering services that make the best use of data and digital capabilities, transforming legacy infrastructure, and taking an innovative and user-centric approach.
  • Ability to innovate by applying learnings from the commercial sector, other countries, and technology advances to UK Public Sector challenges to create tangible solutions.
  • Experience building trusted adviser relationships with senior client stakeholders within the public sector.

Leadership

  • Experience building and leading high-performing consulting teams and creating leveraged engagements for cost-effective, profitable client delivery.
  • Leadership of bids and solution shaping to produce compelling proposals that help win new business and grow the industry.
  • Experience managing third-party partnerships and suppliers to provide a consolidated, seamless delivery team for clients.

Practice

  • Experience delivering complex engagements spanning multiple capabilities for user-facing digital and data services in the public sector.
  • Experience identifying opportunities based on client needs and developing targeted solutions to progress opportunities.
  • Experience working with sales professionals and taking commercial responsibility for strategic organisational goals.

Technical Architecture

  • Proven experience designing software systems across legacy architectures and modern patterns; software engineering background with ability to collaborate with engineers to estimate work and adapt plans as needed.
  • Expert-level understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and multi-cloud configurations.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise systems architecture, including networking, security, and scalable integrations.
  • Experience architecting systems across their lifecycle from development to deployment and decommissioning older systems.
  • Track record as a trusted technical advisor across multiple industries.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and with cloud vendor programs (e.g., AWS APN, Azure Partners).
  • Knowledge of well-architected frameworks and vendor-endorsed best practices.
  • Relevant expert/practitioner certifications and knowledge of UK public sector guidance (e.g., NCSC CAF, Technology Code of Practice).
