Overview
BAM Infrastructure are recruiting for a Technical Assurance Lead to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project at the initial design phase, which will run concurrently with the completion of main works contracts. The team operates under a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance structure to manage interfaces and resolve program conflicts, working on design, access, resources, and logistics to achieve shared goals for cost and schedule.

Your mission
- Manage guidance and mentoring to design and construction teams on what they need to do to achieve HS2 Technical Assurance.
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the technical assurance strategy, processes, and systems.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams, project leadership, clients, sub-contractors, regulatory bodies, and other major stakeholders.
- Attend weekly meetings with the client in Birmingham/London.
- Identify change, risk, and opportunities for cost savings with the client.
- Plan, coordinate, and resolve technical assurance activities to deliver a self-assured product and achieve Level 3 certification for each work package.
- Assess Technical Assurance readiness to proceed to interdisciplinary design reviews and lifecycle stage gates.
- Lead regular progress reviews, tracking and reporting of assured deliverables and associated certification to meet programme.
- Prepare, implement and maintain the Requirements and Assurance Management Plan (RAMP) and ensure processes and procedures deliver technical self-assurance at each HS2 Technical Lifecycle Stage.
- Manage Departures processes as required (in liaison with Design delivery).
- Create and interface with Undertaking & Assurances within the Design team and other relevant stakeholders.
- Establish and manage the Contractor’s Technical Requirements Baseline, ensuring input requirements are captured, aligned with Works Information and standards.
- Ensure assurance evidence is delivered progressively to avoid delays in works acceptance due to approvals.
- Develop a plan with FBRS design delivery management and the supply chain to demonstrate progressive delivery of a fully technically assured, self-certified product that is safe to build, operate, and maintain; meeting HS2 Ltd’s requirements as defined in the TAP.
Who are we looking for?
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
- Chartered IMEC, PWA Institute or CEng ICE desirable.
- Experience in major multi-disciplinary rail projects; high-speed railway projects, design and build projects, and UK projects are valuable.
- Proficient in design coordination, design interface management and assurance documentation in railway projects.
- Previous experience in a similar role with aligned responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Strong communication, leadership and management skills with a collaborative approach.
- Enthusiastic team player with the ability to listen, engage, motivate and make decisions when required.
- Focus on efficiency and driving delivery.
- Practical experience of harmonising design and quality requirements with buildability.
