Technical Author - Infrastructure Projects | Aldermaston | Hybrid (2-3 Days On-Site) | Contract | £40-45/hour | Outside IR35 | Active SC Clearance Required

Are you a detail-driven Technical Author with a background in complex, highly regulated engineering environments? This is your opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects where your documentation will directly support the safe operation and compliance of high-value assets.

The Role

As a Technical Author, you'll be responsible for researching, preparing, and originating high-quality documentation that supports the safe operation, maintenance, and modification of engineering systems and processes.

  • Producing technical documents such as Method Statements, Risk Assessments, SSoWs, LTQRs, PQMPs, and Quality Plans
  • Collaborating closely with Engineers, Project Managers, and Client Representatives
  • Reviewing, editing, and ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in technical content
  • Supporting site inspections and walkthroughs to gather information
  • Indexing and cataloguing documentation for secure storage and easy retrieval

Who You\'ll Work With

You\'ll be embedded within a skilled, multidisciplinary team delivering vital work across the nuclear lifecycle. You\'ll liaise with engineers, subcontractors, and clients to develop technical content and ensure alignment with project needs.

What We\'re Looking For

  • Strong background in technical writing within regulated sectors (Nuclear, Rail, Pharma, Aerospace, etc.)
  • ONC or equivalent in Engineering, Communications, or similar
  • Proven experience drafting documentation in radiological, waste-handling, or decommissioning environments (ideally 4+ years)
  • Familiarity with AWE 804 systems is a bonus
  • Confident communicator, team player, and able to work autonomously
