Description: Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Consultant, Sustainability and Technology Transformation. You will develop advisory projects for electricity sector clients, including distribution, transmission, retailers, and generators, helping them address regulatory, economic, and electricity challenges. You will build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support growth and satisfaction.

Please note: This position is hybrid (2-3 days in Birmingham office). We cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.

How you’ll make an impact

  1. Collaborate internationally within Power Consulting units on assignments using established standards, methods, and technologies.
  2. Propose technical and engineering solutions tailored to client needs and seek feedback for improvement.
  3. Conduct research, market studies, analysis, policy support, report writing, and presentations on international climate and energy projects.
  4. Assist in project proposals, including approaches, timelines, staffing, and budgets.
  5. Work with leading specialists in a team environment, with clear career development paths.
  6. Uphold Hitachi Energy’s values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for actions and caring for colleagues and business.

Your background:

  1. Master’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems, sustainability, or related field, with experience in the energy sector.
  2. Knowledge of power systems products, sustainability studies, cost-benefit analysis, energy economics, and documentation.
  3. At least 3 years’ relevant experience in strategy or analytics consulting.
  4. Skills in C++, MATLAB, Simulink, GaBi Dfx, Homer, Python, and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerBI, PowerApps, VBA.
  5. Analytic, solution-oriented working style.
  6. Customer-focused and quality-oriented.
  7. Ability to plan, prioritize, and think systemically.
  8. Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  9. Experience in sectors like electric transport, battery storage, offshore wind, hydrogen, virtual power plants, etc.
  10. Additional languages such as Spanish, French, German are a plus.
