Job Title: Technical Delivery Manager
Salary: £50,000 - £58,000
Location: Cambridge/hybrid (minimum 2 days per week in the office)
Contract: Permanent
Our world class resources support hundreds of thousands of teachers and learners across the world. We are embarking on a new era of digital solutions for learning, and now is an opportune time to join a dynamic and fast-growing team who are helping shape and deliver this roadmap. We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
About The Role
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with team members globally — in the UK, Australia, Manila, India, Africa, Europe, and the US. You'll develop strong working relationships with a wide group of colleagues and will be working as a valued part of a very supportive and innovative team where a positive, collaborative approach and a problem-solving attitude are appreciated and rewarded. We are a small but extremely effective team, and there is a real opportunity to contribute and to make a difference.
Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of platform software projects, managing requirements, priorities, and dependencies to create efficient release schedules
- Develop a deep understanding of the requirements, deliverables and complexities of the projects you're engaged on, and communicate clearly and confidently about those projects to stakeholders at different levels
- Partner with key stakeholders across the global Education business to support clear elicitation of requirements and effective prioritisation to deliver measurable value to the end user
About You
You will have proven experience delivering projects. This is a role within a technical team, so experience with technical project delivery or involvement in technical projects is an advantage. You might have a background in software development or software testing, or a background in education or publishing, with project management experience.
You will have confidence leading meetings with globally distributed teams and working with stakeholders at different levels. Part of this role involves taking an active Scrum Master role within a team, so the ability to support and coach a team in good Agile/Scrum practice is essential, and you'll have a strong understanding of the principles, values and benefits of Agile development processes.
Your experience will enable you to manage complicated technical projects, working with stakeholders to deliver best value, anticipating issues and managing dependencies for effective deliveries. You will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication—providing stakeholders with visibility and confidence, and ensuring the team has a clear sense of direction and purpose. A flexible approach to problem solving and a proactive mindset toward process improvement are also important, along with a focus on teamwork and collaboration during challenging deadlines and ambitious projects.
Benefits and Working Arrangements
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- Private medical and Permanent Health Insurance
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Group personal pension scheme
- Life assurance up to 4 x annual salary
- Green travel schemes
We are a hybrid working organisation and offer a range of flexible working options from day one. We expect most hybrid-working colleagues to spend 40-60% of their time at their dedicated office or location. We will also consider other work arrangements if you wish to work more flexibly or require adjustments due to a disability.
